The Proffesional
This is Ceci, 33, a marketing strategist and devoted mom from Valencia, Spain.
Life moves fast - work trips, client calls, deadlines, and the joyful chaos of a one-year-old. Between all of it, she makes space for herself: a quiet walk at sunset, a few stretches before bed, a coffee in the sun.
Every moment counts.
At a marketing event she was running, we invited her to try a live demo. One quick 3D scan and a short chat later, it was clear — we could provide real support that made a difference.
After a few months she wrote:
“Sandals are my most worn footwear this summer, they are really comfortable and I wear them all the time.
I really feel the difference when footwear is custom-made versus a generic insole.
It’s the kind of innovation that anyone will feel the benefit of, and I absolutely recommend it.”
Diagnosis: Pes cavus, no chronic pain
The Cyclist
Meet Jure, 32, a programmer in the morning and an avid mountain hiker and a cyclist who spends weekends exploring rugged trails and soaking in fresh air.
Without any current pain, he wears Dr.Obooi sandals to keep his feet supported and muscles balanced between hikes.
This is very important with his high arched foot (Pes cavus), because it's typical to have excessive weight distribution on the heel which often lead to heel pain, lower back pain or joint pain.
These sandals help prevent strain and discomfort before it starts, so he can keep conquering peaks, enjoying nature, and staying active — without worrying about what might come next.

Diagnosis: Pes cavus, hallux valgus, lower back pain
The Unbreakable
Meet Bill from Leeds, UK.
Today he is enjoying his retirement and is a relentless hiker and a cyclist. A nature lover and a true free spirit.
After a successful career as a Chartered Electrical Engineer, he transitioned into his passion for the outdoors and is now an International Mountain Leader.
We met a few years ago, when he came in with bunions and constant back pain. He’d already tried classic orthotics from the UK, but I knew we could do more with our advanced technology combined with a deeper understanding of biomechanics and footwear design.
So, we tryed to do better.
I hadn’t heard from Bill in two years, so I gave him a call - just to check in, to see if he was satisfied enough to share a short testimonial…
Or maybe just too disappointed to bother...
Turns out, Bill was busy - climbing higher then ever before.
Bill was busy climbing around Mont Blanc!
(4,810m / 15,770ft)
I was very happy to hear this!
And he was happy to share his story with us...

The Second Grader
This is Matthew, a second grader, a grandchild of one of our coworkers.
He is 7 years old. In his example we will correct the foot position and prevent early knee and hip injuries with wearing custom-made sandals and insoles for at least 80% of the day.
After consulting with his podiatrist, the obvious solution was surgery. However we want to achieve a non-surgical solution to correct his foot with manipulating his foot growth with our orthotics, potentially avoiding surgery with an estimated investment of $169 per month over the treatment period. Experience say 5-7 years.
His answer to "Describe how you feel with these sandals"?
Matthew: "Idk Gradma! I just run and don't feel that pain anymore."
Gradma wasn't satisfied with his answer. We said - It's perfect!
"The human foot is a masterpiece of engineering and a work of art."
Why Dr.Obooi Sandals Work?
This famous quote of Leonardo Da Vinci holds a lot of truth. Your feet were built for nature — sand, dirt, rocks — not concrete and tile. But modern life is flat and hard, and your body adapts. Arches collapse, ligaments weaken, and strain shows up in your ankles, knees, hips, even your back.
Even barefoot shoes miss the point if you're not walking on natural surfaces. You’re strengthening your body — but you’re evolving in the wrong direction.
Dr.Obooi changes that. Like a custom orthotic, each sandal is designed to realign and strengthen your foot — whether you’re in pain or just want to prevent it.
Your body’s always adapting — we make sure it adapts in the right direction. We use the body’s natural adaptability to help restore natural alignment from the feet up.
Yes, the first days might feel strange. That’s the point. Your body is meeting real support.
Start slow. Let your foot adapt. Over time, Dr.Obooi keeps your biomechanics where they should be — strong, supported, and built for real life.
Diagnosis: Pes planus, calcificatio talocruralis
The Founder
My name is Joseph and I'm the founder of Dr.Obooi. Since always I liked sports like basketball, karate and mountain hiking.
I love that feeling of freedom and peace that lives in the tired body and the open sky.
As a kid, I had flat feet (pes planus), but since we made orthotics, it wasn’t a problem — my posture corrected over time. Still, every school year, things flared up again. I didn't think much of it.
Sprained ankles were normal. I didn't think much of it.
By my late 20s, my ankle started grinding. I didn't think much of it.
Eventually, the stiffness got worse, and I saw an orthopedic surgeon. Turned out, I had a ½-inch calcification that had to be removed. After recovery, I made a promise: never again.
I realized arch support is key — you need to wear your orthotics at least 80% of the time. That’s tough in summer or at home, where we spend 30% of our waking hours barefoot.
So how do you hit that 80% without stressing?
That’s how Dr.Obooi was born — a 3D-printed, customized sandal that supports your feet all summer, indoors and out. Since switching to Dr.Obooi, I’m pain-free, I move freely, and I barely think about my ankle anymore.
So my advice: when your body starts to warn you, take it seriously. It won't get better on it's own.
Don't be like me, who didn't thought much of it.

Diagnosis: Pes cavus, plantar fasciitis, atherosclerosis
The Active Fox
This is Dragana, 72, a retired shoe developer. A grandma, a mother and a wife. She's a free spirit like no other, that's why she wanders daily into the forest.
A year ago she experienced sharp pain in her heel, which is more common wiht people with high arched feet (Pes cavus).
She was symultaneously diagnosed with atherosclerosis (plaque buildup in arteries), so she needed something comfortable that will not constrain her blood flow and sandals were a perfect solution, becase we could make a perfect fit for her wide feet.
After a year of daily use, she can once again walk freely, wandering through the forest without hesitation or pain — each step light, steady, and her own. It’s not just movement she’s regained, but a quiet kind of freedom.
She smartly wears her sandals outdoors to stay supported on every step, and then slips into them indoors during winter, turning them into cozy, reliable slippers all year round.
Her answer to "What do you wear in winter?
What do you mean? I don't get cold that easily you know!?

Diagnosis: Hallux valgus
The Artist
Natasha, 65, a grandma, a mother and a wife. She's an easy going retired dental nurse who likes to do diamond painting.
She has a severe hallux valgus - a bunion on her big toe. In essence she has very "simple" problem. She can't find anything to wear. Whatever remotly fits - she buys two pairs, because the alterative is being barefoot, but not in a cute kind of way.
She didn't go out much, shoes she bought were always unbearable or tight at best.
Nowadays she only wears Dr.Obooi Sandals.
"Everything used to hurt - my back, my hands, my knees, even my wrists. Just getting through the day felt like a battle.
Now, everything still hurts, but at least I can finally step outside without worrying if I’ll make it through my daily errands and back again."

The Baby
Meet Max, my son. He's jut under a year old. He likes long strolls in the park, he likes to eat well and plenty.
His passions are creating noise and playing with his mom's sandals.
Arches have not yet formed, he's just starting to stand up.
He does NOT need the sandals, but want's to have them!
Soon he can have his own.
Hang in there for a few years Max!
However, we do have a surprise for those who want to catch these priceless moments!
